3rd Grade Regions of the U.S. Research Project


Description:

  1. This was a collaborative project between Ms. Frachetti, teacher-librarian and Mrs. Beckler. Students were organized into cooperative research groups to research the 5 geographic regions of the U.S., including each region's famous landforms/landmarks, weather/climate, produce/products, culture, and famous people.
  2. Students learned and used various online resources, including Searchasaurus EBSCO magazine database, Nettrekker--an educational search engine, websites and books to gather specific information to answer guided research questions about their topics;
  3. Students chose a famous person in Colorado history or a composite character to research. Then they created a Fakebook profile page for this person to share their learning.
  4. Students then posted their learning for your enjoyment!


As a major part of the 3rd grade curriculum, our students learned about the five regions of the United States, focusing on the economy, geography, culture, history, and climate. Following extensive research, students worked collaboratively to write scripts about their regions and then brought their writing to life in the greenscreen below. Enjoy!
